Access Case Study – SRMC

As summer temperatures soar, Savannah River Mission Completion (SRMC) has expanded the use of wearable technology for its workers to protect them from heat illnesses and incidents.

SRMC is a contractor for the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Office of Environmental Management (EM), managing liquid and radioactive waste cleanup, where workers are regularly exposed to temperatures above 90ºF during the summer. Heat stroke and exhaustion are serious risks to workers at the Savannah River Site (SRS), and safety leaders sought a modern, proactive approach to preventing heat strain.

In 2025, SRMC chose to include wearable physiological monitors in their heat safety program, as a proactive method to combat heat stress. They implemented the SlateSafety BAND V2 and found there were no heat-related incidents during monitored summer operations. (View Case Study)
