From the Desk of the CEO: SlateSafety’s Accomplishments and 2025 Vision

Dear SlateSafety Customers, Partners and Supporters,

Happy New Year!

As we kick off the new year, I am excited to reflect on 2024 and look into what 2025 has in store for SlateSafety. Looking back on the past year’s success, I’m grateful for your collective support, feedback, and loyalty that have brought us to this point. We are grateful for the privilege of working closely with all of the incredibly talented safety professionals who have supported us.

SlateSafety’s vision is to eliminate preventable worker injuries and deaths by fulfilling our mission to connect the workforce, automate safety and prevent injuries. Our customers have shown us that current safety technology is outdated, unconnected and hard to use. We are here to change that by providing modern, practical safety technology that “just works”.

We are proud to attack this problem directly with our real-time connected worker device, the BAND V2, and its associated software platform. We continue to expand and create new use cases with the BAND V2 that target heat stress prevention, lone worker safety, and confined space monitoring. Additionally, with the launch of the BEACON V2 we are now able to alert in real-time, visualize and store data on environmental conditions such as an elevated heat index or through the estimated WBGT calculation. We hope to continue to be able to expand these offerings through our iterative process of aligning customer feedback with engineering output.

2024 Achievements:

  • We Alerted on over 22,000 safety events. Our bread and butter is real-time personnel heat stress alerting, and as you can see from the breakdown below, we continue to expand based on new use cases our customers bring to us.
    • 60% of these were for BAND V2 personnel heat stress alerts with a 78% overall intervention rate.
      •  The alerts were based on either their own custom safety thresholds or the ACGIH heat stress standard which is built into our software. The majority were on core body temperature and HRLV
    • 35% from our lone worker suite which is Tap Alert, No Movement Alert and our newest feature Fall Detection
    • 5% from the BEACON V2 for environmental conditions.
    • You can see your organization’s specific breakdown through the Insights Page
  • We Added several new features to the SlateSafety platform which enhance the overall utility of the system
    • Cloud Software:
      • GDPR compliance along with continued SOC 2 Type 2 Compliance. Read more about our enterprise-level security standards
      • A new Heat Stress Intervention review chart shows a detailed analysis of alerts, answering questions such as what threshold was exceeded and how long it took to return to normal levels.
      • The addition of Sites allows administrators to create an organizational hierarchy and manage several locations with discrete permission levels.
      • In-App support and knowledge base built directly into the software so that we can be with you immediately if there is an issue.
    • BAND V2:
      • Alerts Only Mode creates increased customization and privacy. It is an enhanced privacy feature that enables just alerts and disables the transmission of biometric data from the BAND V2.
      • Biometrics Disabled Mode completely turns off the biometric portions of the device.
      • Fall detection is our newest feature which detects a sudden downward movement and hard impact to alert on a fall.
    • BEACON V2:
      • Estimated Wet Bulb Globe Thermometer (eWBGT) functionality was added to the BEACON V2 making it an affordable environmental monitoring tool for heat stress. The estimation has been proven accurate for indoor and shaded outdoor environments.
      • In a similar vein, we added alerts to the BEACON V2, providing for notifications on humidity, air temperature, heat index and eWBGT.
    • SlateSafety Go (Mobile Application):
      • Overhauled the entire SlateSafety Go mobile application and rebuilt it to increase both performance and reliability when viewing large groups of users.
      • Condensed view shrinks the real-time information to tiny colored squares so that hundreds of users can be viewed at once even on a small mobile phone screen.
      • BAND Link which allows the mobile application to become a Gateway V2 for one-to-one pairing with an assigned BAND V2.

SlateSafety’s Vision in 2025:

This year, our focus is working directly with customers and partners to provide feedback to our system and explore even more ways we can use our system to prevent safety injuries across the globe. Here are some key areas and initiatives we plan to undertake:

  • New Features: We are dedicated to continuous improvement and new features across all aspects of our platform and will be rolling out updates to ensure we remain at the forefront of the connected safety environment. In particular, we have slated for 2025:
    • Intrinsic Safety(Class 1 Division 1) launch, making the BAND V2 the first cellular-connected safety wearable to achieve this certification for hazardous areas.
    • Research into other areas of connected safety to understand how else we can help prevent injuries to workers around the globe
    • …and perhaps even a new product or two by the end of the year… stay tuned!
  • Standards: This past year we have seen an increase in heat safety standards both with the proposed federal OSHA heat safety standard and several specific state standards. We plan to incorporate these into our software where applicable via the loadouts in a manner similar to the very popular ACGIH heat safety standard for physiological monitoring available now.
  • Partnerships: Collaboration has always been at the heart of our success, and in 2025 we plan to strengthen existing partnerships and form new ones across the globe.

I want to express my sincere gratitude to every member of the SlateSafety community. Your passion, expertise and feedback have allowed us to be where we are today, and where we are headed to an even bigger, safer 2025 and beyond.

Thank you for your trust, confidence, and continued support. Here’s to a year of innovation, growth and making the world a safer place!

All the best,

-Zack
