Earlier this month SlateSafety was named 2021 Small Business of the Year by UCOR for providing exceptional support on their mission to cleanup the Oak Ridge Reservation for the Department of Energy (DOE).
UCOR is an Amentum-led partnership with Jacobs located in Oak Ridge, Tennessee which is the lead environmental cleanup contractor of the DOE’s Oak Ridge Office of Environmental Management. UCOR has seen continued success with the Oak Ridge site being just recently awarded the $8.3 billion Oak Ridge Reservation cleanup contract.
UCOR’s Industrial Hygiene (IH) Manager, Stephanie Miller, CSP, CIH, nominated SlateSafety for this award. When asked what motivated the nomination, Ms. Miller praised the contribution SlateSafety has made to the success of their IH program. Ms. Miller stated “At UCOR, we do everything we can to set the gold standard for innovation and excellence in our industry. SlateSafety’s BioTrac Bands played a significant role in our ability to take protection of our workforce to the next level this year and helped us achieve a record year in our heat stress program performance.”
UCOR uses BioTrac Bands to prevent heat and overexertion injuries. The Bands are worn when workers wear heavy PPE or carry out their duties in high ambient heat environments.
“It is extremely rewarding and validating to receive the Small Business of the Year award for 2021 by one of our customers” said Chris Ward, VP of growth. “The UCOR partnership has been invaluable to our success, and to be recognized with this award signifies that we are bringing actionable data with valuable insight to our customers.”
The SlateSafety team has enjoyed a run of achievements recently, including being named to TIME’s Best Inventions of 2021.
