Dear SlateSafety Customers, Partners, and Supporters,
Happy New Year!
As we kick off the new year, I am excited to reflect on 2023 and look into what 2024 has in store for SlateSafety. Looking back on the success of the past year, I’m grateful for the collective support, feedback, and dedication that have brought us to this point.
At SlateSafety our mission is to eliminate worker injuries and deaths across the globe. We are proud to be attacking this problem directly with our real-time connected worker device, the BAND V2, and its associated software platform.
2023 Achievements:
- We Alerted on 7,058 heat stress events (near-misses), and our customers intervened on 6,218 of them within an hour (around 88%). The alerts were based on either their own custom safety thresholds or the ACGIH heat stress standard which is built into our software.
- We also added lone worker alerting capabilities which triggered an additional 1,850 notifications with 1,386 Tap Alerts and 464 No Movement Alerts.
- All of this analysis is available for your organization through the newly launched Insights Page.
- We Won a number of new awards for the year including:
- 2023 Industrial Hygiene Award for Heat Stress Protection for the BAND V2.
- 2023 New Product of the Year Awards for both SlateSafety Go and the BEACON V2.
- The biggest win of the year may have been for our customer, United Cleanup Oak Ridge (UCOR), who won the 2023 Verdantix EHS Innovation Excellence Awards Americas for Safety Performance Improvement. Awarded for successfully implementing wearable technology solutions to address an increase in heat-related illnesses and overcoming employee fears to enhance safety in high-hazard environments.
- We Added several new features to the SlateSafety platform based on feedback directly from our customers such as:
- An enterprise-tier security certification called SOC 2 Type 2 — fulfilling our cybersecurity commitment.
- Anonymous Mode for privacy, eliminating the need for personal data assignment to a BAND V2. It records data and issues alerts with default settings for unassigned profiles.
- A geolocation feature that adds real-time GPS location to Alert messages. If GPS is enabled, a map pin will be sent with the alert notification allowing authorized officials to navigate directly to a worker in trouble.
- The BEACON V2, a new product that adds coarse indoor location and environmental monitoring that measures and alerts on heat index, humidex, humidity, air temperature and estimated WBGT.
- Multiple large improvements to SlateSafety Go mobile app, available on the iOS and Android app stores, such as the My Stats page, allowing workers to analyze their own data.
- The Assigner Kiosk which allows organizations to purchase a 3rd party scanner and quickly scan and associate the system with a worker badge.
- We Partnered with:
- Levitt-Safety to distribute our products in Canada.
- OHD as an additional partner to distribute our products in the United States.
- Kepler51 Analytics to bring real-time heat stress data into their critical event management platform.
- Benchmark Gensuite to ingest our alerts into their concern reporting module for EHS record keeping and associated analytics.
- SKC, Inc as an additional partner to distribute our products in the United States.
- RAECO rents as a partner to offer short-term rentals of our system.
Thank you everyone for an amazing 2023! These accomplishments highlight the hard work and commitment of our incredible team and the unwavering support from our customers, partners, and stakeholders.
SlateSafety’s Vision in 2024:
This year, we see so much potential for SlateSafety. Our main focus will be continuing to work with our customers and partners to help us seize these opportunities. Here are some key areas and initiatives we plan to undertake:
- Platform Enhancements: We are dedicated to continuous improvement across all aspects of our platform and will be rolling out updates to ensure we remain at the forefront of the connected safety environment. In particular, we have slated for 2024:
- Intrinsic Safety Class 1 Division 1 launch, making the BAND V2 the first cellular-connected safety wearable to achieve this certification for hazardous areas.
- Privacy enhancements such as an Alert-only option that will disable BAND V2s from recording physiological data but still allow them to transmit alerts in real-time.
- Research into other areas of connected safety to understand how else can we use our device to help prevent injuries on workers around the globe such as Ergonomics, Proximity, and Geofencing.
- Global Expansion: Building on our success in 2023, SlateSafety is poised for global expansion. We will be exploring new markets and partnerships to bring our cutting-edge safety solutions to workers around the globe.
- Collaborative Partnerships: Collaboration has always been at the heart of our success, and in 2024 we plan to strengthen existing partnerships and forge new collaborations to amplify our impact on safety across industries.
I want to express my sincere gratitude to every member of the SlateSafety community. Your passion, expertise, and dedication have allowed us to be where we are today, and I am confident that together, we will achieve even greater heights in 2024.
Thank you for your trust, confidence, and continued support. Here’s to a year of innovation, growth, and making the world a safer place!
All the best,
-Zack
